Highly respected British born directed with the immediately recognizable bald head & pear shaped body, became known as “The Master Of Suspense” after directing a string of critically acclaimed thrillers such as “Dial M For Murder”   (1954), “Rear  Window” (1954), “To Catch A Thief” (1955), “Vertigo” (1958), “North By Northwest” (1959), “Psycho” (1960) & “The Birds” (1963). Alfred had a knack of popping up expectedly in small cameo roles in most of his films.
